A week later....

Wow! Time is going fast....We are sorry we have not been able to update this, but since the team got here on Saturday, we have stayed very busy! We have only a few minutes before we eat breakfast and head out for the day, so we will give you the highlights since the last blog..

Thursday- We finished up VBS and had an awesome time with the kids! Many of the parents accepted Christ! YEAH God!

Friday- Day off and we hung out around our house, watched a couple movies with our host family and just relaxed.... it was a good thing since we haven't had time to do that since!

Saturday- We spent the morning at the church doing a kid's club outreach. This was like a mini VBS and we had about 20 kids there. We really enjoyed playing basketball, jumprope, bingo, doing puzzles, and coloring while talking about God! We were also anxiously awaiting the arrival of our team.... we went home and ate lunch, and then came back down to the church at 3:30. The team arrived around 4-4:30 and it was great to see some more english speaking friends! We did an orientation at the church and then they all went off with their families....We went back to our home and watched Facing the Giants ( One of our favorites!)

Sunday- A full day of worship! We had three services, where we sang, shared testimonies and had an a great day.....we definately felt God's presence today!

Monday- Work day at the church! We had devotionals with the team from 8:30-10 and then spent the day helping around the church. The kids and I spent most of the day painting the playground, they were a great help....I spent most of my time just holding the paint can and putting paint on the brush :-) We had an afternoon of fellowship and food with all the workers from the church, which was awesome....the rest of the afternoon was spent finishing up painting, and misc... for us. Steve spent almost the entire day sanding the church floorboards under the hot sun, with glass, and sandpaper..... one small incident with a shard of glass in his finger.... He was sanding with Don, Paul, Alberto, and Jason... Austin also was sanding for part of the day.....

Tuesday- Yesterday was a full day....8:30 devotions, 10:30 off to children's ministry( some problems with electricity, so no music. We had a very cool experience while we were all in a circle praying to get the electricity working. Steve prayed first, and then Rosa prayed in Spanish, and afterwards, Belinda told us that they prayed almost the exact same thing!!! It is great to feel God's presence among us!

  3. Chaffin Family,
I guess I will write to you all at once though I told myself I would write on ALL the blogs....what can I say.....sorry friends! WELL, your blogs have made me smile (thinking of what the dogs in Mexico look like;)smile again, at the thought of Amy eating broccoli soup, and smile even MORE at the thought of all day worship! LOVE IT!! Do they still sing "the happy song" as we called it? I was thinking of you worshiping there while we are here!! My heart is there! Austin--you totally rock. I knew that God really prepared you for this trip. When I am in the Eagles class with you I know that you have a mature understanding of the Bible and what God is saying to you. You are kind and compassionate and I know that ALL those kids in Mexico will remember you!! Enjoy your last few days. Dani--you're the BEST! I love the picture of you and the puppy. I am so jealous that you are already on your first mission trip! You are brave in so many ways and I know that no one will forget the sweet, sweet blondie when you leave. Have fun your last few days (did you go to that little corner store?) Steve and Amy, We have prayed for you everyday and know that God is doing amazing work through you. Thank you for being so available to Him and His calling in your life. You are a GREAT and shining example to us all!! Steve, PLEASE have some mole' for me :) For some reason I only like it in Mexico. Say hi to the mountain for me....praying for you and the whole team as the week winds down. Love to you all! KathyBucher
